A plea from the wildlife trusts Suffolk Wildlife Trust is appealing to people to help save the bumblebee. This delightful insect has become increasingly scarce over the past 70 years, with three species becoming extinct altogether. Habitat loss and changes in farming methods has meant that the number of species found in lowland Britain has halved since 1950. By growing suitable plants and providing a haven for bumblebees in our gardens we can help safeguard future populations. |

Despite some seroius speculation and heavy questioning over the weekend meeting from the (majority) Nikon Owners, as to what Nikon might reveal for the PMA show in the states, even if I had known then, I couldn't have told you until now. Nikon have annouced a big brother to the D40, the D40X. The camera is not a replacement, but an addition to their range and despite being superficially similar to the D40, it sports a 10.2mp sensor, faster frame rate and a greater ISO range. |

The Wildlife Trusts urge support for Year of the Dolphin As Chinese New Year (the Year of the Pig) approaches, The Wildlife Trusts urge support for the United Nations’ ‘Year of the Dolphin’. Threats for dolphins continue to rise. They face entanglement in fishing nets, marine pollution, starvation, deliberate hunting and disturbance from noise. In China, the Chinese river dolphin, the baiji, which lived in the Yangtze River for some 20 million years and was revered by the Chinese as the "goddess" of the mighty river, is now believed to be extinct. The baiji is the first large aquatic mammal to be declared extinct since the Caribbean monk seal was killed off by hunting and over-fishing over fifty years ago. |
