Some people did provide some entertainment! Sunday 4th march saw the third birthday of WildaboutKent. In order to celebrate, a number of members turned out despite a dismal weather forecast!
10am at the Sevenoaks Wildfowl Reserve was the appointed hour, and 17 intrepid members made the trip from all over Kent and even some surrounding areas. Those who turned out were: Fran French, Tony Flashman, Brett Lewis, Phil Hurst, Dave Rogers, Peter Oak, Shaun Wakelen, Della Wakelen, Jill Batchelor, Nigel Batchelor, Rose Hobbs trying to teach an old Dog. Atkinson, Nicky, Ian French, Ian Andrews, Shirley Andrews, Tony B, Nick Powell and somebody called Hobbs! (aka Nick Armitt)Despite the weather forecast promising some dry weather until lunch, the rain started shortly after assembly, and with folk rushing off to try and get some sort of images before total downpour started, not even a group photo was managed! On the other hand, copious amounts of coffee and soup were imbibed from the canteen and a few cakes were devoured as well! But the dog had better ball control! By 1330hrs, most had had enough and the haf that remained repaired to the local hostelry for hot food and more jaw wagging. Perhaps next year we should do as the monarch does and hold celebrations at a more suitable time of year! |
